Join the Forest Hill NEST

We are preparing to recruit and invite participants to join our Forest Hill NEST - a think tank to discuss the future evolutions of Food, Economy, Resources (energy and natural resources) and Mind & Body on the high street.

An invitation to join our NEST:

We would like to hear from people who are interested in joining our NEST. This is a group of people who will meet to shape ideas and contribute to the Co.Futures project. The meetings will be open for all to join-in inspiring talks and events to explore the future of citizenship and how we want to build our world together.

A monthly meeting will focus on an aspect of street life in the future to speculate how this may transform. At each think tank meeting we will invite speakers to offer a perspective on areas that include Food, Economy, Work, Energy Production and Education and then open-up discussions afterwards.

Expect the NEST think tank to be creative and inspiring - a space to interact with ideas and Co.Future companions.

Refining our enquiry and text as an invitation to join-in

Co.Futures is a creative residency located on the London high streets of Forest Hill, Kirkdale & Sydenham and led by art/design duo, Burton Nitta.

Co.Futures researches and designs the high street of the future.

The locations of our residency are at various stages of transition. All exhibit the signs of a changing world. These encompass shifting ways of trade and industry, the turbulent economy, developments in our work-life, food, science & technology.  We believe that with each of these changes a new possibility is presented to redesign the services, products and places that evolve in the resulting gaps.

We consider the high street as a place of people and interactions, full of human-made systems. As such we can redesign the way we use the street as a collaborative space.

Instead of filling our streets with the same products, shops and cafes found across the land, we invite you to imagine new opportunities to create a unique identity based on people, place & location.

We invite you to join our enquiry to ask what are the future ways to live together? What is citizenship in the 21st Century? How would you like to shape the high street of the future? Ultimately imagine new ways of living and valuing each other.

Trying out words to communicate CoFutures

Welcome to Co.Futures. We invite you to:

Experiences to taste the future

Create other ways of living

            Shape how we live together

Build our futures

Question: What is citizenship?

Ask: What is the future of our high streets?

Meeting with Tony & Corrine at Sydenham hub

After meeting Neil, we had a meeting with Tony and Corinne about Hub space layout, schedule and budget. The hub was so cold, so we used two heaters to warm us up a bit! We were informed that there will be electrician coming this week, hope everything will be sorted...  We measured up the space, preparing for decoration of the hub!

Meeting with Neil from Arts Emergency

We went to see Neil from Arts Emergency to talk about possible collaboration. Arts Emergency is an organisation who works "to keep subjects in the Arts and Humanities accessible to everyone who wants to study them regardless of the barriers and perceived barriers." Neil is a fundraiser and campaigner for the organisation. He is such an inspirational person, we are talking about providing open lecture for our project. We are so much looking forward to possible collaboration with Arts Emergency - follow their activity on https://twitter.com/artsemergency
