Our installation is ready to go - but more importantly, its a Easter holiday

Today, we put the installation in the window space, metamorphosis factory at the back of the hub, trying to be ready to invite audience to experinece our stuff.

However, more importantly, its a Easter holiday...! of course!

From the 11:00am opening, we had loads of families coming into the hub asking for bonnet making&chocolate eggs. Michiko was stuck in the window space as a display (this was intented), and took some photos of how busy Jill hub & Michael was. Michael ended up spending all his time supervising parents & kids for bonnet making, and no one cared about our installations even though two big pieces were at the window and back...

Of course, who cares about anything else if you are busy hunting Free chocolates? I think it was very stupid idea that we run (boring) art events when there is such a fun workshop going on. We learnt something today...

On the other hand, we did have lots of people stopping by the window checking what is going on - at least 100people experienced our piece as they pass Jill hub by - so that is quite a success??

Knowledge banking&mealworm events at Jill - but more importantly, shop needs to run

Today, we came in to Jill to run the knowledge banking&metamorphosis factory events  - but first thing we saw was a bonnet hat hiding our piece.

Then we decided to take this mask down, maybe it was not well received piece in the end. Never mind

Anyways, I cracked on with our usual shop keeping jobs: sweeping floor, clearing rubbish, writing things on the A-board.

Then we had about 10 groups of parents&children coming into the hub to make bonnet hat for easter. After the volunteer lady went away, I needed to look after the kids&parents in the hub making bonnet, as it got quite busy.

Then library people arrived with more books so had to give hand...

so when I finally got time to think about our installation, it was already 16:00 without any more energy to move the installation & run the event - well its too late anyway.

So nothing has been progressed again.

Installation ready - but more importantly, shop needs to run

So today we wanted to spend first thing in the morning to finalise our installation and put in the window place.

After lots of physical work from Monday, we have finally reached to the sort of final shape of the installation.

We love the texture it gives, hope it will be a nice one in the window space. should be exciting!

But once the shop is opened, we again had to run the shop rather than setting up & running our events.

Never mind, its just the first day - we have few days more to go!

Today we came in to Jill to build knowledge banking installation for the window space, after Saturday's trip to Wicks.

The hub is again really really cold (its snowing again today), especially that we had to work at the back of hub. Well, needs to be done so we have been busy sawing, screwing, putting things together!

Had lunch at our favourite cafe on Sydenham Road

Back to working on the structure again... getting there?

lots of meetings & knowledge banking installation shopping at Wicks

We have set few important meetings for our future events Co-lab(working title, we also call this NEST event) and Algae Opera.

First, we had meeting with owners of St.David at 9:00...

Then meeting with Havelock walk people at 10:00

BUT Michiko had to rush off to see our NEST hostess Maggie at 10:30

We had another meeting to feed each other, taking to next step-should be exciting!

So after all those meetings, we went to Wicks in Lewisham to get materials for knowledge installation. We are planning to spend our full time tomorrow (Sunday 24th March) & on Monday to build this installation.

it is really really cold and heavily snowing, and its on Saturday, but we have to do it!!

So we went onto train with some coffee to boost our energy,

Micahel unloading the wood after the shopping

Then carry the timbers by bus, saving our expenditure...!

Finally arrived near the hub: and it is snowing heavily...!
Corrine's performance Happiness piece is going on so we had to wait outside of hub for a while...

We are finally going in

After dropping the materials, we went home working on other things like emailing, graphics etc

what a long day!

Demolition of Mealworm factory

We took away mealworm factory today, after the meeting with Corrine.

Mealworms were frozen and we thought they were dead, but when we kept them in warm studio some of them revived...! poor thing were almost hibernated.

So even though there is no presence of factory in Jill hub, the factory will be carrying on till we get the pottery done...!

Knowledge banking interview with Bruce

I had a really nice session with Bruce, who donated amazing local knowledge of Sydenham - about hidden little garden at the back of his house, park tree trail he created together with his dog...

The most interesting one was his best kept secret - we will reveal this when we launch the knowledge map!

Thanks Bruce, it was really fun chatting with you! And welcome to Pat, who I am meeting in few weeks time, should be exciting
